How To Test Your Pool

Pool Water Balance

To complete a full test of your swimming pool you will need to adhere to the Langelier Saturation Index as well as checking for the usual disinfectant and cyanuric Acid levels. This test determins whether the pool is corrosive or scale forming, both of which can cause severe problems for your pool and pool equipment.

The Langelier Saturation Index is formulated from 5 tests:

bullet pointpH (acid / alkali)

bullet pointTotal Alkalinity (carbonates and bicarbonates)

bullet pointCalcium Hardness (calcium content)

bullet pointTemperature

bullet pointTDS (Total Dissolved Solids)

FREE Water Test

Simply bring in a sample of your pool water (min 100ml) to our showroom and we'll complete a full Langelier Water Balance.

Domestic Pool Water Levels

The ideal readings for you home swimming pool should be as follws:

bullet pointFree Chlorine= 2.0 - 4.0 ppm

bullet pointTotal Chlorine= 2.0 - 4.0 ppm

bullet pointpH= 7.2 - 7.6 ppm

bullet pointTotal Alkalinity= 80 - 120 mg/l

bullet pointCalcium Hardness= 250 mg/l or higher

bullet pointCyanuric Acid= 30 - 100 ppm

bullet pointTDS= 1000 - 3000 mg/l above source water
